Profile stairs, sometimes referred to as 'zig-zag' are very popular as an alternative to a conventional straight stringer.  They create a light feel to a stair and are often the favoured option when a property does not allow for a fully cantilevered design. Clients looking for contemporary stairs often consider the profile design.
